What is/are your most unusual requests that a client wanted in their closet? Was it something you knew would not work, or not user friendly or just plain weird?

Mine was a book shelf 96 " high with 24" drawers on the bottom. The proportions were all wrong. But they insisted.

That is so frustrating! I have had it happen several times. I call the office to let them know, and they call the homeowner. Sometimes there is no answer and once the phone had been disconnected. Another time, I went back for a 2nd appointment and it happened. I drove over an hour to get there. I was furious!

My company doesn't call in advance of the appointment to confirm. They consider it an opportunity for cancellation. But if the homeowner isn't there - I can't make a sale. And it costs me both time and gas.

I have had alot of "nobody's home lately". The appointment was made be the homeowner. Designer shows up at the home at the appointment time - and nobody's home.

Is this happening to you? How do you stop it from happening? Do you check up on the homeowner before the designer goes to the home?
